Maytag Top Load Damper Pads

Hello All, I just replaced the damper pads on a commercial Maytag top load. Mac-Grey repairman Dan gave me a tip that I thought I should pass on. To remove the three tub springs without removing the eye-bolts from the base, push the tub to make one of the springs stretch and insert a one-gang metal electrical box between the stretched spring. This keeps the spring stretched for easy removal and replacement. Use one electrical box per spring. This worked wonderfully for me, hope it helps someone.

Same electrical boxes work on the old 3 spring Magic Chef, JennAir, Performa line as well. There was a tool made for them and the Dependable Care units Bob is talking about but I always' preferred the electrical boxes. To me they seemed safer and less expensive. Good pointer Bob.
