58DLX070-12112 carrier forced air induction motor turning on/off

Not 100% on how to test these

It was hard to tell, but it seems like I was getting a 31 error code.

Pressure switch related.

Wasn't sure how to test pressure switch, but when I blew into the switch and tested resistance, it opened, or closed.

Sorry. I'm kinda a dummy.

Hose was clear, vent was clear, could it be the main board?

I'm going back with the computer and pressure switch.

What else should I check for?

I just posted Carriers service manual. I labeled it Carrier 58dla/x. Pressure switch test is on page 39. Also check 49, 52 and 53 for troubleshooting. 31 is pressure switch did not close or reopened.

Unplug vent motor and check for 120. Check continuity across vent motor windings, I don't know what the proper resistance should be. Open is Bad. :)

To definitively test the pressure switch you "T" a manometer into the tubing and call for heat. The vent motor creates a pressure, the rating is usually written on the switch. Or just replace the pressure switch.

This control will let you recall stored LED codes also. Check in the troubleshooting flow chart.

I wouldn't suspect the board unless the 120 to the vent motor is inconsistent. My first thoughts are pressure switch, vent motor, vent motor fan blades, clogged vent, clogged  or kinked tubing, gas pressure, combustion air supply then maybe board.

This is from the manual, it says it will give a 32 code.

 Check Pressure Switch

This control proves operation of the draft inducer blower.

  1. Turn off 115-v power to furnace.

  2. Disconnect inducer motor lead wires from wire harness.

  3. Turn on 115-v power to furnace.

  4. Set thermostat to "call for heat" and wait I minute. When

pressure switch is functioning properly, hot surface ig- niter should NOT glow and control diagnostic light flashes a status code 32. If hot surface igniter glows when inducer motor is disconnected, shut down furnace imme- diately.

  5. Determine reason pressure switch did not function prop- erly and correct condition.

  6. Turn off 115-v power to furnace.

  7. Reconnect inducer motor wires, replace outer door, and

    turn on 115-v power.

  8. Blower will run for 90 sec before beginning the call for

    heat again.

  9. Furnace should ignite normally.
