I came home Saturday from work and my ac was not cooling. The fan on the out side unit was not spinning but I started it with a stick. If the unit cuts off I have to start it with a stick again. I took the capacitor out and tested it but the fan tested good but the herm tested a little low. I have ordered a new capacitor. How ever I noticed the wiring is strange on it. Nothing is connected to the com on it. My questions are: is that normal wiring to have nothing connected to the com. And if the new capacitor does not work, what would ya suggest I try next. Thanks in advice for your help

No, typically you have a common from the fan and compressor if I'm not mistaken. Condenser fan motor spinning with a stick is a good indicator of a bad run cap typically. Unless it was hard to move with the stick, then your motor is pprobably seizing up.

Need a model and you would probably need to verify wiring diagram on exact wiring.
