Model # LAT9614AAE. This washer begain squealing during the agitate mode and smelling like a burning belt. I changed the belts thinking the belts had become worn. the problem has returned. It will spin and agitate occasionally the problem is only intermittent. Could this problem be due to a obstruction between the tubs? The belts went on very easy could the springs on the motor mount be the problem? The pullies looked clean with no obvious residue on them. Please help.

This is either a rusted tub bearing or transmission that needs to be rebuilt. if you see any seeping or flakey rust around the tub bearing, above the orbital transmission, then the tub bearing is a good bet.

The service manual for this washer is one of the best ones ever written for any home appliance and covers both these repairs in detail. It's in the Xdrive-- lemme know if you're having trouble finding it.

I'm having trouble to open the manual on the x-drive ( maytag top loader). It opens but shows no information.

If you're not seeing the manuals, then you may have not put your name in your account, in which case you have appeared in my share list as ::private::, which I routinely delete.

Double check your account settings, let me know, and I'll shoot the access link back out to you.

Some manuals will open some will not.

To download, check the box beside the file(s) that you want and then click the download button up top.

While you're getting that ironed out, I emailed you the link to the service manual. Check your email.
