Maytag LAT4910AAW won't fill cold on initial fill

Hot - Cold --> works as desired, initial fill is HOT, rinse cycles are COLD water.

Warm - Cold --> Warm is actually HOT on initial fill (no cold water), rinse cycles are COLD water.

Cold - Cold --> No water on initial fill.  However, rinse cycles fill with COLD water.

So basically, it's a problem with the initial fill only.  No cold water on Warm-Cold or Cold-Cold to start the wash, but the cold water works fine in the rinse cycles.

I wonder if the Temperature selector on the control panel is bad?

The fact that you're getting both cold and hot water means the valve and pressure switch are both good. So we can eliminate those.

Looking at the timer chart, Wash Fill (both initial and later) uses two timer cams regardless of the temperature selection: 1 and 3.

The hot and/or cold water inlet solenoid is selected by the temperature setting.

The fact that you're only getting hot water on the initial fills can only mean the temperature selection switch is bad.

You can confirm using my tech sheet markup: If you're getting 120 VAC into the temperature selection switch on the white wire but NOT getting 120 VAC out of the temperature switch on the yellow wire, then you have proven that the temperature selection switch is bad.

I couldn't find the exact tech sheet for your model so I'm using one for a model that is very close to yours: LAT4914. I'm almost 100% sure it's identical to yours. You should confirm by comparing with the tech sheet inside the control compartment in your washer. You'll need to go inside there anyway to test/replace the water temperature switch.

Unfortunately, the temperature switch is NLA: Part number: 207368

Part number: 207368

Thanks for the reply.  Very much appreciated!

I was getting ready to do a load with a bucket of cold water handy when, surprise(!) it filled with cold water from the start as intended.  So this is intermittent.  I wonder if the contacts have corrosion or dust buildup that is preventing good contact?  Any chance the contacts are serviceable?

In any event, there's a couple used temp switches on eBay at at least one NOS.
