Hi, I've got a question.  I've got a Maytag MGR7775WW3 free standing gas oven that about 2 weeks ago (possibly following an electrical storm) developed a problem of not being able to be turned off.  Whether on a timer or just hitting the 'cancel' button, nothing happens. Hitting the cancel button does make the sound, just no turning off.  All of the other buttons on the control panel seem to be working OK.  We have had to unplug the oven, but even this seems to not be working and I can hear the gas still flowing and the heat continues.  Had to shut the gas off at the source, then it seems to reset itself and I can turn the gas back on with no leak sound.  Its almost as if the there's something stuck open after turning the oven on.  I took out the button control board and it looks absolutely clean.  The relay board does have discoloration around what I think is a resistor, but nothing major.  I'm not sure if the problem is the relay board (or just a relay), the button control board, or something else.  Any ideas/suggestions before I have a repair man come out? I can't seem to find the part number of the relay board, if indeed that's the issue. I'm a little nervous about buying a new board as I don't know if this is the problem.  Appreciate your help.

This indicates the cancel button on the control assembly is inop. You'll need to replace the control assembly Part number: AP4981786

Part number: AP4981786

If you unplugged it and it still stayed on ,it would seem to have a gas valve sticking open , would need a new one. That along with the bad control may be more than you need to spend on this stove.

But if after you unplugged it and the flame went away but gas was still flowing then just replacing the safety gas valve should solve your problem.

Thanks. I wish I had heard from you a fee days ago. Already sent my board out for repair. But I will check that valve. Ultimately it does turn off, just not when I first unplug it.

It's a problem with both fuzzy problem descriptions and everyone waiting to pile on after a question has been answered.

Your problem description could be interpreted to mean that the control was not shutting off. That's how I read it. Garbage in, garbage out.

It would also be expedient if others would answer topics sooner if they have something to say rather than waiting several days to answer.
