Huayi compressor in Blaze compact refrigerator

Recommended Posts

My compact refrigerator is just 6 weeks past the 1 yr warranty. Suddenly it won't start.  Turn on = hums for about 7 seconds and then shuts off.  Does this sound like it could simply be the starter?  If so, is it easy to change the starter?  Refrigerator brand is BLAZE, model BLZ-BC-130B.  Compressor with starter mounted on its side is Huayi B25H5 -- used in many brands of compact refrigerators and water coolers.

Whoa - identical experience with mine.

Solution?

The solution ended up being quite simple.  It was, in fact, the starter.  I went to a local appliance parts store and they sold me a nifty product called a Supco "3 'N 1 Start".  Installed in 3 minutes.  The refrigerator ran another almost 2 years, until the compressor overheated and melted half the parts in the darned thing.  These compact refrigerators are all JUNK--doesn't seem to matter which brand [plus nearly all of them are manufactured with the same crappy parts, regardless of brand].  It's a terrible example of our throw-away economy but not much you can do.  You can buy 6 of these little boxes for the price of 1 outdoor-rated refrigerator (although I don't know whether the outdoor rated ones actually last any longer!)
