Kenmore 110.25102310 washer intermittent no-start

This washer has gotten increasingly worse with the no-start issue. Up until the last time, I could just walk away after it didn't start and come back 10 minutes later and push start and good. The last time I had to walk away after opening/closing lid about 20 times, turning dial around and selecting other settings, unplugging. Nothing. Next day went back to it and wouldn't start. Opened/closed lid. Nothing. Unplugged it, waited and plugged back in. Nothing. Walked away with lid closed and came back a couple minutes later and pushed start...and it started! Obviously the "intermittent" part has me cornfused. Was thinking lid switch initially but I thought when they go, they're gone for good. Was hoping for some input before I roll up the sleeves and bust out the instruments! Any other similar issues with this type of HE washer? Thanks in advance!

This washer is electronically controlled. The first thing you'll need to do is place it into diagnostic mode and retrieve any trouble codes it has stored.

Thanks Thirstytech. I was unaware of the diagnostic capability. So I got only 1 code. F5 E1 which is lid switch. Since it's an intermittent problem, I'm guessing the switch is on it's way out? Oddly enough I just did 2 loads without an issue. BTW good call on the Greenbush!
