Cost to install Evap Coil and Recharge System? Sub Zero 561

Recommended Posts

What's should I expect to pay to have a new evaporator coil installed and have a system recharged with r134a.

Before you answer . . .

It's in a subzero 561.

Trying to figure out whether it makes sense to buy the coil and go with an independent tech.

Thanks,

Anthony

Here in Yankeeland, that repair-- done right-- goes for between $1,000 and $1,500. The coil itself is the minority portion of that cost.

And you should probably check with whoever you find to do it and see how they feel about installing a part you purchase so they aren't going to receive any parts mark-up, (they may not want to do it or may jack up the price to compensate).

I don't like to use customer provided parts, however I will with a few situations.

I will not give my full 1 year Guarantee, only thirty days if I use their part.  I don't charge more labor, just less guarantee and none on the part.

I also will not install a generic part that the customer supplies, in any circumstances.
