KitchenAid Model # KBRA22KLSS01 freezer stopped defrosting

Hi all, the freezer in our KitchenAid Model # KBRA22KLSS01 suddenly stopped defrosting.  Just wondering if this would be a 4-beer service call or could it be a 1 or 2 beer DIY effort?  Freezer items appear to be staying frozen well enough.

First-time poster...Thanks so much for any response!

What are your symptoms, what made you decide it stopped defrosting?

Thank you kindly, abaesemann, for your response!  This now seems like user-error.  The excessive frost has since disappeared except for a thin one-inch wide strip at the top of the interior freezer door (an inch or two inside the seal strip).  I've noted previously that the freezer door hasn't always been shut completely by our family, and perhaps by it being left unsealed by a half-inch or so could have caused the frost build-up?  An expert dishwasher appliantologist actually checked the seal on the freezer door for us (when he was here fixing our KitchenAid dishwasher) and that seemed fine to him.  My wife bought this fridge "used", and I'm not sure we're even using the correct 'ice-catcher' with our robust ice-maker.  When the ice-catching container is full, additional cubes spill-over and drop down to the freezer compartment floor without ever approaching and raising the "ice-bar" that's supposed to shut-off ice-making when lifted.  Long story, but my guess is that the runaway ice cubes might be impinging on fully shutting the freezer door occasionally.  I'm grateful to our awesome dishwasher guru who taught me a lot about dishwashers and informed me of this great site.  :D

Sounds good!

The defrost control board determines how often to run the defrost cycle. If the board fails, the refrigerator will not go into the defrost cycle. This is one reason for the refrigerator stops defrosting. There can be many reasons for it. Its better you call a technician to know the reason for it.
