I have a Maytag Gemini model MER6770AAB double oven.  Neither the broil (hi or low) nor toast nor clean function of the upper element in the upper oven will work.  The lower element in the upper oven works properly through all temperature ranges and functions except for clean function.  In the lower oven, both elements work properly.

I had replaced the element before checking for continuity and when the new one did not work, I then checked for continuity in both, and both read good.  A few years ago I replaced the temperature sensor and the control circuit board and the broil element.  Only other symptoms was a random F9-2 (door lock upper) when oven was not on.  Also top right front heat indicator light not working.

Before I order another new control board is there something I have overlooked?

Thanks

If you have been using the self clean cycle,  then you have overlooked the warnings concerning the major problems running self clean causes.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, even though it was funny, it was also unhelpful.

If you do a simply Google search on "why not to use self clean oven function" you will see what he is saying.

The self clean function can cause:

thermal fuse to blow

damages control boards

speeds element failures

messes up door locks

Self clean oven function should be used at your own risk

Huh, well if it turns out it's not your fuse.

You can then go back to my list and start checking other possibilities. Sorry for trying to steer you. Hard to determine exact problem without testing.

I honestly hope it's just your fuse.

Good luck!

It's only unhelpful to those who don't understand... and apparently,  that includes you. By just telling you of one part to replace,  you run the risk of repeating the problem if you use the self-cleaning feature.  And having run self clean since the time you replaced those parts,  you cannot exclude them from being the reason for your current failures.  You may have a blown fuse,  but that would not explain your f9-2 error.

So go ahead, belittle our posts,  replace the fuse,  and run self clean .... it's just a matter of time when you have an epiphany and understand the wisdom we attempted to impart.... you will thank us later.

Problem Solved!!  Thanks to AARDL for suggesting the part to check.  I ordered the hi-limit switch and swapped it out yesterday.  The old one did NOT have continuity.  Now the upper element works properly.  I am posting this update to let everyone know what solved the problem....and who solved the problem.

Thanks again AARDL

To those who want to understand the big picture and understand the reason for the problem,  think twice before you use the self cleaning feature.  Otherwise,  you'll be replacing  boards, fuses,  sensors etc on a constant basis. Some people welcome this warning, others are those that continue to do the  same thing  yet expect different results.

I don't even have time to read the manual, how do you expect me to clean my oven without using the self clean cycle, I don't have time to clean my oven manually! LOL
