GE Spacemaker DSXH43 dryer -- moderate-to-loud steady hum during drying

My dryer is working fine at drying clothes, but it makes a moderately loud humming sound that was absent when it was new. The humming sometimes gets louder as the cycles goes on. It sounds somewhere between a hum and a steady grinding sound. And it seems to be coming from the front of the dryer, although I can't be sure. Here's a video of it:

The sound is very steady. There's no thumping or banging. Any help would be appreciated.

Pull the front panel and check the condition of the upper and lower drum glides.  If they have worn through it will give a metal on metal sound.

If not glides I would suspect rear bearing assembly. WE25X10001

its a ball and socket type setup. the cup that the ball rests in can crack and the lube can dry out, etc...

Good luck. Let us know how you make out.

Thanks. On a different forum, some also suggested it was a motor bearing but they suggested I replace the whole motor. Is it worthwhile doing that?

Take bottom access cover off and see if you can tell where the noise is originating.

Its hard to hear the noise in your video.

Glides and bearings are typical sources of noise. It could be a motor noise. See if you can tell with bottom cover off.

One way to tell if it's a motor sound or a drum bearing/idler/glide sound is to remove the drum and run it on an air dry cycle. Might be something hitting the blower wheel as well. P.S this dryer is Electrolux/Frigidaire built and parts are going to be way cheaper if you can find them with Electrolux part numbers rather than GE part numbers.
