Kenmore 106.55529400 Ice Maker and Water Flow Stopped Working

Recommended Posts

I have a 12-year-old Kenmore side-by-side. The ice maker randomly stopped working. I found it with almost a solid sheet of ice in the tray but no ice had been dumped into the bucket. The black rubber tip that drops the water into the tray is not blocked by ice. I jumped terminals L and V and got no water flow. I also jumped terminals T and H and got no movement on the ice maker. I'm out of ideas and I've reached the end of the internet. Please help!

You may have two issues. Check the water valve first.Part number: 2188746 solve water problem first.

Thanks for the response, AARDL.  Where might I find this valve and how do I check that it's working properly?

In the back of the machine. Disconnect the line to the water in door and have someone push the water paddle to see if water comes out the valve.

It sounds like the ice maker assembly needs replaced to me.

You should check your valve as suggested. But based on the symptoms I'd suspect the ice maker.

Let us know how it goes. Good luck.

You very well could have both a bad valve and ice maker as AARDL indicated.

UPDATE:  I replaced the ice maker with a new one and all works perfectly now.  Thanks for the input!
