FGHB2844LFD fridge no light, no water, no ice

have had this fridge for about 3 years, second one (they replaced the first one due to unknown noise) after 8 months the fan in icemaker died/froze and was replaced under warranty, a year later same issue, but now i have an error on the panel i think is 5Y CF or CE (cant remember at this moment, not at home) and i have no light on in the fridge but in the freezer drawer there is light, and i have no water or ice dispenser, ice maker is not making ice or cooling at all. error code solution says to replace user interface, then main board if problem still there. all the buttons on interface are still functional, leads me to believe its the main control that i would need to replace. But i also read on some google searches, that maybe a wire got pinched by repair man on initial fan replacement and taking out main board? any suggestions on where i should go first. id rather not buy both interface and main board if i only need one.

thanks.

odds are you will have to buy both the board and interface.... but click below and download  the sy-ce sy-cf bulletin  to find testing procedures.

awesome, thanks for the tip and direction, i'll do the testing procedures and see where that takes me, i'll let you know what i find, after reading the procedure, i have a feeling the low voltage fan in ice maker has failed causing this problem.

thanks,

The bulletin does advise checking for failues in low voltage loads prior to replacing the board.... such failues may interfere with board communications

I read it as verify 12 vdc at hinge, then at board as well as signal continuity, if voltage isnt correct then proceed to low voltage options. if voltage correct then replace boards and do not worry about low voltage issues at that point, until replaced.

Correct... unlike GE fridges,  a bad fan will not destroy the board  but only interfere with communications,  so you can replace the boards then  test the loads.
