My beloved Fisher Pakel DD602 dishwasher is having problems with the upper drawer lid seal pump. It was leaking and I bought a new inflatable lid seal, I was able to blow into the old one only to realize it seemed fine, but replaced it anyway. The pump is operating, but doesn't fill the seal. The exhaust valve seems to be working, can hear and feel it moving, even tried blocking it off and pump will still not fill. Have tested the hoses leading to it and they are fine. There is air coming out of the pump, but maybe not enough? I would buy a new pump if I could find one, even looked on eBay. Is there a way to test the pump for the amount of air coming out? Are there appliance graveyards where I could find a used pump? Can the pump be fixed?

Service manual states the pump should put out 4.5 - 6 psi over 60 seconds.  If you have some kind of air gauge you may be able to test this.  That will require getting into service mode and activating the pump.

OK, thanks, if I can figure out some way to measure it I will try. I am able to activate it in service mode ( with the drawer, sideways on the floor, but still hooked up to the wires) so I know it is pumping air. Thanks again

it will be a faulty exhaust valve

go into diagnostics

close exhaust valve then run the pump for 1 minute and turn off pump

the seal should hold the drawer closed for the next 1 min

sadly the pump/valve is no longer available and in reality its at least a 15 year old dw

I did try disconnecting the exhaust vale and plugging the hose, but the pump would not fill the seal. I am able to blow into the hoses and inflate the seal myself. The pump is pushing air, but maybe it has an internal leak? The dish drawer has been in our house for 16 years and I really like it, I don't like the way the new ones look, and can't afford one right now. So I guess I will continue to search the internet for a used part. Thanks so much

J5,   thanks so much! I was able to find the part on Craigslist in my area, when I first put it in I was just testing the lid seal without activating the exhaust valve, then I re-read your post, and now I know why the diagnostics are in the order that they are. Hope I can get a few more years out of my machine, thanks again!

Great, can't wait!

Can't imagine having to work on the bottom drawer either.
