Kenmore 253.22042410 Freezer not freezing

Kenmore 253.22042410 Freezer not freezing. Compressor not running. Open the door and hold down the door switch and the evap fan doesn't run either. Warm enough to where it should run, hasn't run for hours. Food melting.. Interior light lights, green power light on the front is on. Thermostat clicks off and clicks when spun to a setpoint. No hum, no buzz, no nada.

Harness connections look tight. Unplugged and re-plugged power. Didn't help.

What can it be, Oh Samurai? And, is there a hack to bypass whatever switches on the compressor and fan (looks like they are in parallel from the Tech Sheet) just so I can get some coolin until it's fixed, assuming that both the compressor and fan didn't die together? (long odds of that)

Cluelessly,

-Bill

I would check the defrost timer, is on the back near the compressor, there is a shaft on the timer and if stuck in defrost cycle you can turn that shaft clockwise a little to see if the freezer starts up

How does one know which to but and try? The issue with mine is that items in my door are not solid, and many times the bread items are also not solid, softish. I have increased the coldness setting, and will give it time to see if that works better. If not, would it be the temperature control? To replace, does one need to empty it to tip it back for access? Suggestions? Thank you.

Regards, Bill

First check your defrost timer like roy gene stated, turn knob"small flat head screw driver" on defrost timer a few clicks and see if it comes back on, do not turn to fast, you will hear little clicks and a full turn you will hear a larger click, that larger "click" is putting it into defrost, few more small clicks and you are back to cooling. Once you know you are not in a defrost state with timer and still no cooling then I would check cold control "thermostat" give it a slight bump with your palm on the plastic directly beneath it, sometimes that works sometimes not but at this point if still no cooling I would start checking voltages with multi meter.

is this all the time or just start happening? i was under the assumption you had no cooling at all?

Pull freezer back panel and inspect You might have a ice block back there which would indicate a defrost issue

These are famous for the defrost timer and\or cold control going out in them

The intermittent freezing has only been recent. We had an incident where the temperature control got moved to a very low setting causing ice cream to melt, a couple frozen veggie pack, defrosted, and leaked. I have turned it up higher to see if this will freeze everything, or if I need to seek replacing parts. Then begs the questions, which should I go for. Thank you for any guidance.

If that does not work,Check evap behind back panel in freezer, should have "frost" on all coils, if you found an ice block you found your problem

Same unit... heavy frost on the back wall at the very bottom, behind the wire basket.

Tried the defrost timer move. Still not cooling. Top two racks of food are mostly thawed, moved that to neighbors.

Other ideas?
