Hi, I have a Samsung fridge model #rs264abrs.  Frost is building up on the fresh food compartment's evaporator.  When I ohm out the heater I get a reading of 333K ohms. Can not find any documentation that says what the heater should ohm out at.  Could you help me please.

Thank you.  Roger

Fast Tracks/Service Manuals will not help for this fault.

Samsung published a Service Bulletin for your symptoms.

A Service Kit is available to correct...

Frost/ice accumulation in the fresh food compartment

Ice/Water under crisper bin

Water on floor

Intermittent noisy complaint

Icemaker inop

Food freezing in FF section

Currently---I'm on the road doing service calls---and do not have the Service Kit part number handy

Perhaps someone else has it and can post for you---if not---I will provide it later.

NOTE:

When the Service Kit arrives---verify that there are TWO defrost drain tubes in the package (some kits only provide one--you'll need both)

Refrigerator models with the icemaker in the upper left corner of the FFcompartment---and having the *lovely* U-shaped refrigerant tubing that "runs" through the icemaker---require a THIRD defrost drain tube

This is a difficult fast track to obtain but if your testing is accurate,  you may have a bad defrost heater.

On this model   the heater is  part of the evap assembly.... checking fast tracks for models that use  the same part number,  it appears your heater should show a resistance of 103 ohms if tested directly at the heater.

If testing at the board,  I believe your heater and the icemaker tube heater are in parallel.. So with the fill tube heater at 2880 ohms in parallel with the defrost heater of 103 ohms,  you should get a reading of 99.3 ohms at the board.

Either way looks like a bad heater. so the good news is your suspicions appear to be correct,  the bad news is you have to purchase a new evaporator, remove the heater and replace your original heater with it..... trust me... lots of fun for the whole family.

Service Kit (DA82-01415A)

That service kit and Bulletin are for  Samsung French Door models..this is a side by side as evidenced by the model number  prefix RS= Refrigerator sxs.... RF=French door.. and this particular problem doesn't involve water leaking since the heater isn't coming on to melt the frost.

The following applies to the model in question :

Thanks for responding to my question. The heater in question appears to be located in the evap fan cover in the fresh food compartment of this sxs. The part number is DA47-00228B. I have not been able to find any documentation as to what this heater should ohm out at?  Thanks again.

The part you  referenced is the water tank heater,  not the evaporator defrost heater.  If you correctly tested the evap defrost heater,  then you need to reread my posts.  If,  however,  you are indeed testing the water tank heater,  then it's no telling what your failure is... it may be drainage as John63 suggested,  it could be a sensor,  bimetal or defrost heater.   You may need to consider hiring a professional.
