Samsung dryer humming DV45H7000EW/A2

Samsung dryer just hums when you try to start it 95% of the time sometimes it will start on its own, will run if you turn the drum by hand then works properly, any ideals?

Remove belt and see if motor runs normally. 

Check for obstructed blower wheel.

I will try that. I did have it apart and kind of looked everything over.

Most likely motor, starting to see this more with Samsung

Your motor could be going bad but we want to eliminate easy cheap things first. 

Do you have a multimeter?

Ive seen blowers so clogged the motor just hummed and wouldn't turn the drum. 

But your motor could have bad start windings. We will want to check that after the blower if you have a meter.

• Belt off or broken/damaged.

• Idler tension spring too weak or stretched.

• Idler pulley jammed or stuck.

• Lint buildup around drive motor.

• Low voltage present.

• Blower impeller blocked in blower housing.

• Check the actuator of motor.

I do have a multimeter, I checked for stuff stuck in blower, checked belt, I pulled it apart. Of I hold the door switch and give it just a little push it runs as it should.

You've had unit apart, have you pulled tech sheet out of unit?

next step is to run tests as indicated on tech sheet.

Common problems with Samsung Dryers are #1 the heating element, #2 the idler pulley, #3 the support wheels. These three parts are the only parts I have replaced in a Samsung dryer. And I have worked on about 20 in the past year. Check the pulley and the wheels. And also I had a piece of clothing stuck in the blower wheel, but someting in the blower wheel, it usually wont run at all. And a bad motor will stop after a few minutes. Other then these things, that is all I have seen. For some reason alot of appliance techs in Seattle wont work on Samsung appliances. I have no problem with them, but dont like their refrigerators.

I have replaced motors on that model for the same problem. If you are getting power to the motor but it is not turning then you need a new motor. Have seen several of these lately.  Pn/ DC31-00055H
