Bypassing the Factory-Default Rinse Water Level Setting in a GE top load Washer

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have a GE top load washer. Just purchased it. Factory water settings are ridiculously low-and my wife actually had to "rig" a water hose from our utility room sink-and run it to the washer to fill the drum up enough so the clothes can actually be cleaned and rinsed. I saw your vid about how to bypass the factory settings on the other top loader machine, but was wondering if you had any feedback on the differences from that manufacturer and our GE. Our model is the GE 4.2 cu.ft. top load "high efficiency", model:   GTW485ASJWS.  It runs good, we JUST NEED MORE WATER. HELP! Seriously, any info would be greatly appreciated.

On this washer you will have a option setting that says   Deep Rinse   select when adding Fabric Softener     Use this setting and it will give you more water for the rinse.

Captain Dunsel,

Thanks for the response. Even when we press the Deep Rinse button for extra water, the amount that the machine allows is ridiculously low. When wife washes clothes-there's clumps of soap on the clothes-after the end of the cycle-because not enough water was allowed in the drum-to adequately rinse the soap away.  Even with the Deep Rinse button pressed-the drum fills up to about 5 or 6 buttons up from the bottom. (about 1/4 from the bottom!)  No where close to the top-where the clothes could be submerged.

I'd love any info about how to bypass the factory settings on the wash and rinse amounts-so it can allow much more water in the drum.

Respectfully,

Sounds like you may be using too much soap. I would try only using a table spoon of soap. That is a more energy efficient washer that uses lless water. If you fill it up all the way like a older style washer it is going to wear out a lot faster.

It's a Energy Star HE washer. It uses less water. Deep fill is not an option.

Thank you for saving the planet

Read the user manual. Also must use less soap.In the user manual it says.

Select the Deep Fill feature for loads where extra water is needed.

Press the Deep Fill button once before starting the cycle to add an incremental amount of water to the wash load. Holding the Deep Fill button for 3 seconds will provide the deepest fill level possible; this will increase cycle time due to the additional time it takes to fill the washer.Yeah these are not like the old Days.Thank your government for that.
