Bought a used Samsung washer from a friend. Feet are adjusted properly. Depending on how much and what is in it,the machine will shake and want to dance around during the spin cycle either a little or a lot, and may move up to a foot or so. There is evidence that the motor nut has contacted the rear cover at times.

The drum appears to be supported by two heavy springs at the top and four shock absorber gizmos at the bottom. Visually, everything looks good. Before I start changing parts out I thought I would ask for advise.

Thank you in advance.

Check to make sure tub bearing is not bad.

Thank you for the suggestion. I  have tried this from the front (drum side) as well as shaking the flywheel in back. I cannot find any play in the bearings at all.

The washer sits on a ceramic tile floor, which may be "slicker" than other surfaces. I have tried placing felt pads under the feet, but this may be counterproductive and make it slide easier.  I have a sheet of plywood out in the garage - I may cut it to fit and place it beneath the unit to see if it holds everything in place any better.

Doesn it move without clothes in it. If so, it may have a bent inner basket.

If it doesn't bounce empty then you may need to change the shock dampers.

Ran it empty. There are a number of spin speeds. Everything is fine while at a lower spin, but as it ramps up it runs through an rpm range where if vibrates and moves significantly. By the time it gets to a midrange setting the vibration goes away. It seems to come back a little bit at high speed, but just enough to feel when I put my hand on it. No vibration when it backs down to a stop.

There is nothing obvious to the naked eye that might be wrong with the inner basket.

Since we bought it from a friend, we probably have the option of giving it back. That would probably be a better option than investing a lot more time and money into it.

I appreciate everyone's comments.THank you.
