We were given this Hotpoint gas stove. We had to convert it from natural gas to LP. I don't know what was wrong with it to begin with but it had something wrong. After the conversion, the top burners are working properly but the flame from the broiler comes up the sides and into the oven if it's turned up slightly past a low flame.

Help appreciated.

Sounds like broiler wasn't converted properly.  Call a professional to double check conversion.
