Freezer suction noise

I assume the suction noise many up right freezer make when closing the door is a pressure equalization process. Is this right?  How does it work?  thanks

you open the door, warm, moist air fills the cabinet- you close the door, the air is compressed and the pressure equlizes by pushin air out of the drain tube in the evaporator tray- this is an absolute normal occurance and cannot be changed as ot has nothing to do with freezer design, but has everything to do with physics which you cannot change. simply ignore it.

Excellent explanation, kdog. Just to add that this has been the cause of many a "technician witchhunt," where the customer claims the refrigerator has developed this new noise ever since you replace the ADC board or whatever. And many a greenhorn tech, being uninformed about this particular nuance of appliantology, was unable to explain this to the customer and so the technician witchhunt proceeds through the ages and ages. Amen.

unless you hear someone knocking, and in that case, open the door and let them out,it's easy to kill someone- but not so easy to hide the body.
