Hello,

our bottom freezer fridge (Kenmore 596.66954400, 18.5 ci, no ice-maker) stops cooling from time to time. Both controls then show "-" (on the control panel inside fridge part). This is happening only every few weeks, and is more likely to happen after lots of produce is loaded (not immediately after loading, a few hours afterwards). Power on/off appears to reset the controls and the thing works again, usually for weeks.

I did went through a forced defrost cycle and all the Service mode tests, without fault.

Questions:

- does the "-' indication tell me something about possible causes?

- does the overload PTC relay reset automatically?

- any ideas what to check?

thank you

Kaspar

More than likely,  your main  control board (Jazz board)  is failing.
