Good morning all!

My LG dishwasher is currently exhibiting poor wash performance and intermittently giving an FE code. 

 

I went in to test mode and was able to manually start and stop the fill valve, although it ran to a level of nearly 600 before I stopped it to activate the drain.  The troubleshooting guide I found in the unit said it should stop around 285. 

 

I measured resistance on my fill valve, got a reading of 28ohm which was low so I bought a new valve. Of course the new valve measured 28ohm as well so I didn't install it and now I think my meter may need attention too. :/

 

Any recommendations on what to do next?  The troubleshooting guide says to replace either the full valve or the PCB. Shouldn't there be a level sensor in the system too somewhere?

So I put the new valve in anyway because why not?  Everything was golden until this morning, just got the FE error again.

 

New PCB time?

 

I still don't understand how the washer knows how much water it is holding.

On the outside of the tub where the water enters there is a case assembly with switches and a float. I would start there. I've seen these get gummed up and cause problems.

I have had the problem with the inlet with the water level float and flood switch float getting so full of debris it faults.  I had to remove the whole assembly and flush/clean.  It fixed the issue.  You have to pull out the dishwasher to do this.

5 years have passed since this was an issue. I’m thinking it’s resolved by now.
