13743K604 Kenmore dishwasher circulation pump spins but no water

Kenmore 13743K604 dishwasher.

Circulation pump runs with loud buzzing, but no circulation happens.

I ran it with the door open and the latch jimmied, it fills fine with water, circulation pump comes on at the right time with loud buzzing, zero water circulates, doesn't even make ripples in the water in the tub.  When I turn it off I hear the motor spinning down, sounds like it was spinning nice and fast.

Failure happened in the middle of a wash cycle, was washing fine with normal noise, then suddenly loud buzz and no water.

Can the impeller break off on these dishwashers?  Is there some kind of clutch that could disconnect the motor from the impeller?

I just replaced the food grinder last week, had a week worth of just-fine washing, not sure if the current failure is related or coincidence

no clutch, ild suspect either an impeller thats busted off the shaft of the motor or major food clog in the water system. youll have to pull the dishwasher out, and take the motor off the sump housing to inspect the impeller properly.

That's how it is. Plastic impeller has a threaded brass insert screwed on to the steel motor shaft, looks like the threads on the impeller side have been reamed out completely, you can barely see bumps where the threads used to be.

Food chopper is spun by the impeller.  I sure hope this died because of the old, destroyed food chopper I replaced last week, and not something wrong with the new one I just put in.
