My Subzero 561 has ice on the backwall of the refrigerator section, in the section above the crisper basket. The refrigerator also does not seem to be as cold and the fan seems to run continuously. What would be the steps to diagnose the problem? Thank you in advance.

I would first make sure the condenser coil is clean. Then look at the door seals; are the doors sealing shut? I think the ice you're talking about is actually frost(fuzzy ice, looks like snow). We need to get a look at the frost pattern with the back wall taken off to expose the evaporator. Post a picture of it somewhere and paste the link here.

If it is a tear-drop shaped frost patch at the bottom left, above the crisper drawer, you very likely have a refrigerant leak. Call Sub-Zero immediately and describe the problem...they have a 13 year warranty on the evaporator, and they will even extend the warranty to an out-of-warranty machine, in most cases, if you use one of their factory servicers to repair the problem. Vee8 has you on the right track, there shouldn't be frost in your fridge section unless there is a problem...

Thanks, we will post a picture in a couple of days- need to figure out how to do this. The frost/ice on the backwall is not tear drop shaped, more like D shape and there is frost in the left hand side vertical hook track. We have vacuumed the condenser already. The door seal is not in the best shape but it has been like that for a while now, so not likely to cause this frosting. Note that the frost showed up around the same that our ice maker started to act up which we replaced a few weeks ago.
