My whirlpool washer lsq8243hq0 is about 16 years old.  Recently it will not spin when running medium or large loads.   The lid switch is fine.  When I run a small load it will spin on its own and runs normally.   If I try running a medium or large load, not overloading, it will not spin on its own.  If I manually push the tub to get it started during the spin cycle, it will eventually engage or catch up and spin on its own thru the completion of the spin cycle.  Not sure if it's the motor coupling or the clutch maybe.   Guessing from what I've been reading so far. Thank you in advance for any insight.

sh2sh2 and micabay, thank you both for your reply.  It was the clutch!  took your replies and ordered the clutch from appliance parts pros, had it the next day and repair was done!  washer is working like a champ again.

Can't thank either of you enough for your replies and direction.  the parts store i ordered from also had a repair video that walked me thru step by step.  You guys made this daunting task easy!  much appreciated!
