Panel-ready KA Dishwasher - front status light gets hidden by panel?

I am the possibly-proud owner of a new KA panel-ready DW (model KDTM504EPA).  Like the non-panel-ready variants of this model, it has a front outward-facing status light in the upper right corner.  I have not tested, but assume the light actually works (documentation alludes to its existence).  But if you simply follow the panel mounting instructions, it seems like KA's guidance is to cover up that light entirely.  Well that seems kinda dumb.  Has anybody drilled a hole in a dishwasher panel and then put in some kind of ocular / lens to provide visibility to the underlying status light?  What lens (diameter, depth, type, from whom?) would I use, assuming it needs to be some kind of electronics project part.  Assume also it should be clear - the light itself supposedly shines in 3 different colors at different times.  Thx.
