I have a GE side by side that is acting up as of late.  I just noticed that the freezer is NOT freezing as the newly bought ice cream is now a puddle. A side note i noticed the fridge actually froze some things the week prior so I turned them both down.  The freezer is maintaining about 32-38 degrees and the fridge is about 40ish.

-The fan inside the freezer is working but its not blowing cold enough air.

-I cleaned the evap coils behind and that fan is running as well.

-There was some freezing of the coils inside the freezer but not nearly as bad as some that I've seen.  It was only about 4-5 inches up from the heater coil.  I thawed it out with a heat gun and put it back together.  I noticed now that there appears to be a little more freezing on the back wall of the fridge but I can't imagine this will be any worse than before.

-I did a continuity test the heater and it was fine.

At this point I'm not thinking its defrost related but I'm a bit clueless.   From what I've read the usual suspects are the temp controller, thermisters or additional defrost items. But I'm not sure where to go next.  I'm thinking probably the thermisters but I'd prefer not to cut them off to test.  If this is the correct next step does anyone know what pins to check on the board?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

Thanks in advance......

If you're getting a partial freezing of the evap that incidates a sealed system problem. So does the frozen fresh food section (the unit is working overtime to get the freezer cold but it can't and it ends up getting too cold in the fresh food section).  You'll need to call a pro. Sealed system problems are expensive, it might be better to just replace the fridge.

But if you think maybe there is a defrost problem you'll have to test the thermister on the evap and also test the bi metal for continuity.
