I replaced my compressor with a generic (not OEM) on my Whirlpool French Door refrigerator.  It will not kick in now. Has anybody experienced this before?

is it getting voltage? You could try the old timer trick of tapping it with a wrench while energizing the start winding...

model number? part number used (or brand/rating)  How much refrigerant used? What kind of refrigerant did you use? what does the model call for?

Sorry for the delay. Model #WRF989SDAE00

I own a small appliance shop and am actually researching this for my partner (the technician).

We determined the generic compressor wouldn't work with thr inverter. We ordered an OEM compressor and it kicks, but its overheating (which was the original problem).

We're now thinking there must be an obstruction.  Thoughts?

Thanks!

Are you putting unit in diagnostics n running test 4 - allows 3 way valve to home position.

these units a prone to defective fresh food evaporators

Whirlpool will cover parts n labor

Will have to try that! We contacted Whirlpool who offered nothing.  A replacement fridge for thousands still (small discount).

This is our first time dealing with this model refrigerator. Thanks for the input
