GE Icemaker - cubes in the maker but no harvesting

Recommended Posts

I have an older GE profile fridge model# PTI22SFMARBS which came with icemaker WR30X10001.  Icemaker quit working about 2 months ago.

I searched for a direct replacement for the icemaker and apparently it is no longer made.  I ordered a brand new universal replacement icemaker WR30X10093 and installed it (involves an adaptor cable to convert round-ish plug to a square plug).  After about 24 hours, I do have cubes in the icemaker but they will not dispense into the ice bin - no harvesting.

Water delivery system appears to be working fine - water to the icemaker and to the door water dispenser, good flow.  I've tried unplugging the fridge and replugging-in to initiate the manual test of the icemaker - sensor arm in-and-out 3 times, and the paddle arm doesn't appear to move.

Is there another way to test the motor-drive mechanism in the icemaker?  Or is there something else I'm missing?

i am not seeing that icemaker to be compatible with your model. The newer WR30X10093 icemaker was redesign and to cycle it just pull the Rake arm forward to cycle.

Well, well.  I went to the store and when I came back, I have 7 cubes.  Looks like it might be working after all, but very slowly.  Is there a way to speed-up the output?  If I only get 7 cubes every 3 days, that's not sufficient.

what is the temp in the freezer ? you have to be down around 15 degrees to work at all , then beyond that the colder you get the more you make.

I'll get a thermometer and measure it.  It's turned almost all the way to the coldest setting.  I'll turn it all the way down and see if that helps.

To make the WR30X10093 ice-maker fit into the space previously occupied by the original WR30X10001, I had to make a few mods to the brackets and the ice bin.

Exact Aftermarket Parts does not have a replacement part either, but thanks for the tip

Clean the condenser coils and make sure your condenser fan is running at a good clip, it's the first thing to check in a case like this...
