GE side by side refrigerator GSH25JSXJ SS is not making ice. When I open the freezer door, I hear a grinding sound like something is cycling through and then it stops for a second and starts grinding again, then stops and so on. Turned the ice maker (model wr30x10093) to off position and it keeps making the noise (seems odd considering it's "off". Disconnected the fridge for 30 seconds and then plugged back in, noise is still there. Unplugged freezer, removed ice maker but I don't see anything wrong with it (don't really know what I should be looking for). Plugged the fridge just to be sure noise isn't coming from somewhere else and it's gone. So now that I'm sure it's the ice maker, how to I fix it? Just spent $3k having air conditioner repaired so don't want to spend $150 on ice maker replacement kit if I don't have to.

If the icemaker is mid-cycle it will not turn off- you will have to use your model number and order an IM kit:

Part number: WR30X10093
