Kitchen Aid dishwasher KUDS30IXSS9 will not stay in cycle.

Greetings Samurai masters, it has been a very long time since the Grasshoppa has needed assistance in the area of appliances. But I need advice again.

My Kitchen Aid Dishwasher, Model number KUDS30IXSS9 will not cycle.  The lights on the panel light up when pressed and stay lit, the dishwasher sounds like it is going to start. It hums several times and then immediately starts to drain.   What is the next step in diagnosing or repairing the dishwasher?

Thank you.

Sounds like the wash motor is attempting to begin (the humming), but then aborts when it gets no motion... get down into the sump area and make sure it is clean and free of debris, check the chopper blade to be sure it isn't binding on anything...has the dishwasher been getting used regularly, or has there been a period of disuse? My GE dishwasher will do the same thing if its a couple weeks between uses, just likes to stick and wimp out when the motor doesn't move instantly...

It is used daily to every other daily. The most it's sat has been a weekend. I'll dig into the sump area and see if there is anything causing a binding issue. I'll post after I open it up.

Thank you.

Thank you Master Hiroshi!

The sump area had one of the small plastic rack end covers jammed in it. I removed it, followed the procedure you posted and then, I test ran the dish washer and it works just fine.

Thank you again.
