I heard something rattling in the disposal yesterday, and pulled a small round firm rubber gasket with a firm, fine mesh domed screen attached.  The gasket is approximately 0.75" diameter, 0.25" thick and has an ~0.25" hole in the center for what I assume to be water flow.

My guess is that it came from the dishwasher or the drain hose; perhaps it is a restrictor for quieter draining and/or it prevents disposal waste from entering the dishwasher drain hose.

 

The disposal is a Badger 900-1.

Wanted to attach an image, but not sure how...

The part is similar to this, but the hole is much smaller, and the mesh screen is finer:

Are you sure it is not the faucet aerator. The dishwasher has a check valve but it does not look like that. Check valve Part number: WD01X10406

Looks like someone lost part of the faucet adapter for the unicopuple
