We bought Miele model G4205 dishwasher new 3 years ago. Not tool long ago it started having problems: often towards the end of the wash cycle it would stop and 3 amber LEDs (Cleaning, drying, end) would start flashing. It happens more often on longer programs. I followed instructions posted on this forum and went through diagnostics modes. After 1st entering into the  diagnostics mode "Rinse & hold" LED flashed in 4 bursts. After pressing program, Cleaning flashes 1 long 8 short bursts.

Also, once in while the drain pump would not stop pumping even without water left. Wiggling and pulling up on the base assembly stops it though.

Any advice on what to do next?

P.S. I think the diagnostic stages are a bit more involved. Cycling through program button:

1. "Rinse & hold" LED flashed in singles,  Cleaning flashes 1 long 1 short bursts.

2. "Rinse & hold" LED flashed in twos,  Cleaning blank

3. "Rinse & hold" LED flashed in threes,  Cleaning flashes 1 long 8 short bursts.

4. "Rinse & hold" LED flashed in quads,  Cleaning blank

5. all blank

I was able to reach Miele support tech. I was told that the 1-1 code is  Drainage fault and 1-8 is  Flow meter fault.

Any advice where to go from here? Can I check/fix those myself?

The unit seems to fill up to just under filter handle, which was told is normal. It also drains fine, except at times the drain cycle would not stop, but pulling up on the filter or whole base stops it. Pushing down starts the drain pump again - looks like some sort of a sensor is misbehaving.

The problems disappeared after I loosed up the front of the bottom pan and wiggled the float around a bit.

Thanks everyone for all replies with helpful suggestions! I find this DIY forum to be very active and supportive, particularly in my case.
