Hi Guys,  looking for some help.  I have a Whirlpool GHW9300PW4.  It is giving me an F6 error message. This started a few months ago.  I unplugged all the connections, plugged them back in and it worked for 3 weeks.  So I did it again and it worked for a week and then again and it worked 3 loads.  I have run the diagnostic test it runs thru them fine.  I am guessing that means the MCU and CCU are ok. I have been researching this error and found a article by Samurai Appliance  repair man that talked about adding solder to the boards for the CCU.  https://unitedservicersblog.com/2013/11/26/how-to-fix-all-serial-communication-error-codes-in-whirlpool-built-front-load-washers/.   I took the CCU board and the MCU board out to see if I could find any obvious problems.  Didn't see anything under the magnifying glass, so I cleaned all the connections and then put it all back together. It ran for 3 loads and then on the 4th one it made it 30 minutes and then quit and got F6 error.

So my questions is should I add solder to the connections to see if that works for this or do I just replace the MCU like the error calls for.  I got the washer for nothing so it is hard to spend the money for a new MCU when I they cost a 1/3 of a new machine. What about used parts? Worth it or not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Bruce

Put a slight bend in the stake pins coming off of the board, THEN re-flow the solder for the suspect header. This way you will change the contact points of the pins inside their female counterpart and also address any lousy solder joints... repeat the process on the MCU side. If none of THAT works consider buying a board. It shows that Corecentric repairs that control for 130 bucks RFR.
