Miele G892 SCI PLUS-- Drain/Intake and no fill

Recommended Posts

I've got the Mercedes-Benz of dishwashers around here, the Miele G892 SCI PLUS. (Goodness, I love this dishwasher, but it's fussy like every other piece of German....engineering.)

Well, every wash cycle now starts off with the typical drain, followed by what should be hot water intake. Except, after 4-5 minutes, it shuts off and shows the drain/intake error light. Following up on the error codes, it's saying there's a problem with the water intake or the heater level.

I've put the thing into troubleshooting mode, and discovered that there's just a trickle of water coming in from the water intake mixer thing (which blends softened and hard water together) on the right side. I've verified that there's water going into the fancy "won't let your apartment flood from incoming water" intake hose (although not yet at the point where it enters the washer, but...there's a trickle coming in)..

At this point, everything seems to be pointing to the solenoid valve that lets water out of the water softener. It happens early in the cycle (so before the heater even gets to work) and there's a *little* bit of water coming out of the mixer, which I'd say is likely the hard water contribution to the mix.

Thoughts? What else do I need to check here. Apart from eBay, is there any other good place to get Miele parts apart from Miele?

I should add that the error code is F08 (Normal Plus lit, Rinse flashing).

If the machine is not filling at all check the WPS.  Wrap your hand around it (under the sink most likely) and start a new cycle.  After the 30 second drain cycle it should fill.  If the WPS vibrates but the machine doesn't fill you have a bad WPS (assuming the water supply is good).

As a follow-up, and after a bit of time on the phone with Miele, I've determine that:

a. the machine is filling properly (just to the bottom of the filter handle).

b. The pump impeller is not jammed. (Confirmed by removal of the pump.)

At this point, I think everything is suggesting the WPS has failed.

Thoughts?

Sorry, not the WPS switch under the sink. I've verified that's working too.

Rather, I'm talking about the heater/level switch attached to the circulation pump.

Yes, if the machine fills and runs for a second or so and sets an F08, most likely a bad heater level switch.

Not sure if I hear it running for even a sec, though.

Yay! The heater level switch fixed the problem.

Before ordering, I went ahead and pulled the circulation pump/motor to double-check that the impeller was indeed not stuck and that the motor turned smoothly. Motor had no signs (electrical or mechanical) of failure, so decided it was the level switch by elimination. $90 and four days later, she's all back together and purring fine.

I have the exact same machine and the exact same problem. I ordered a new Heater Level Switch and installed it but I still have the problem of the machine stopping at the 7 minute 21 second mark and indicating Intake/Drain problem. The machine fills properly to the filter handle and goes someway through the pre-wash cycle but then stops. I am thinking it could be the overflow switch that cuts the power but the water is at the correct level. The fill and drain work well. The only notable thing is that when I opened the door to check the water level several times, (which did not change), the machine ran for some 15 minutes longer than it normally does and I did not take up that much time to check the water level.

Thoughts?

I should add that the machine stops on the 7 minute 21 second mark in the "Normal" mode. The timing starts the moment I push the flashing green button with the master switch on and door closed.
