Hi,

I've been having a nightmare with this built in. Evaporator coils are frosting up every 4 days.

I changed the defrost timer as it didn't seem to be advancing. When I put it in defrost manually,

the heater comes on and melts the ice. But, then again, after about 4 days it frosts up again and

affects the cooling in both the freezer and fresh food sections. The timer is advancing now.  I also changed the cold control thinking

it may be running all the time, but still the same results. Help!!!

What are the temps after it has been defrosted then running for a day? How are the door seals? What is the part number to the defrost timer you installed? When you manually advance the timer does it melt all the frost?

The temps are normal. ie 0 in the freezer and 37 in the fresh food section.

Defrost time #2183400

When I manually advance the time it melts the ice.

Does the timer advance out of defrost automatically or do you have to advance the timer out of defrost manually

I would check the ice door flap on the dispenser to be sure it is seated flush, (and the door seals like Johntech recommended), if they are perfect...

You may have a thermostat at the beginnings of failure and are getting insufficient defrost duration-  swap the thermostat to the incoming side of the evaporator as most are on the outgoing end and might not be as cold as the front of the coil if there is attrition refrigerant loss occuring, these conditions can cause working defrost parts to appear faulty... if the thermostat isn't decisively satisfied, the working timer and heater can't do their job correctly.

It wouldn't hurt to have a WR50X55 handy, it is a 7 dollar risk, and can replace your thermostat if it looks or acts questionably...Part number: WR50X55

Low air flow across evaporator due to evaporator fan motor . Part number: 4389155

Part number: 4389155Part number: 4389155

checked to see if foam is still intact at top right corner of evaporator , it directs return air towards bottom of evaporator.
