Frigidaire GLTF2940FS2 Frt Ld Washer E90 Error

While I was out of town on business, my wife reported to me our nearly 7-yr old Frigidaire (Electrolux) GLTF2940FS2 Front Loading Clothes Washer started display & reporting the E90 error & beep code. Looks like she figured out unplugging it for a bit and plugging it back in at least temporarily cleared the error.  When I returned from training, it happened to me and I was able to clear the code twice by unplugging then plugging it back in.  The third load I tried it on, unplugging then plugging it back in didn't do the trick.  So I removed the top panel and unplugged then replugged the main control board connector.  This cleared the code and allowed the wash cycle to complete.  Now none of the previous techniques will clear the problem.  I can't seem to find out what the E90 code is actually reporting.  The manual under the top cover does not list this code.  What could be the problem?  Better yet, what could be the fix?

Anyone have a solutions yet?  I just called my local appliance store to get a guestimate of the repair.  This was not purchased there but at Sears which I will no longer use for appliance purchases.  I did buy a clothes dryer from my local shop when Sears cancelled my orer for no good reason.

Anyway, he's going to charge $140.00 for the call plus parts.  So the main board if needed is $140.42 plus shipping.  My guy said sometimes when one board goes it can "take out" the other board which he told me is a little more $$$ than the main board.  Any idea where the motor control board is located on this machine?  So now my repair bill is up to nearly $450-$500 for a 7-yr old washer that is more like 10-years old of service use.  Is it any wonder why people want to try & repair things themselves?

I'm just not sure I should sink this much into a 7-yr old machine.  Any thoughts fom anyone out there?  Pro or DIYer?

I tried getting the machine into diagnostic mode but until I'm able to clear the error code, I am unable to access diagnostics mode.

Looks like I need to find another repair site as either nobody here has encountered my problem before, or if they did, have not come up with a solution.

The following post is from www.appliancepartspros.com and is a good website to order parts from too.  Here is what they said and should help you:

Frigidaire Gallery series front load washer beeps and displays E90. I googled this and found it is a 'general' error code indicating loss of communication between the control panel and 'main board'. My first question is what is the 'main board'? Is this the motor control board? I removed the front panel and reseated all the connectors on the control panel. After reassembly, it *may* work once but then reverts to displaying 'E90'. I've reseated every connector (and cleaned every pin) multiple times but I cannot get the error to resolve permanently. Any suggestions?

Bob for Model Number GLTF2940FS2

ANSWER Bob, "The E90 error code is not a specific code. The error code E90 is just a group error code. It is indicating a communication error between the two boards in your machine. It does not indicate where the problem may be. A power glitch may have caused the E90 error code or a loose connection. One of the control boards could have failed. If it did not clear by unplugging the washer". The "main" control board is located behind the control panel on the front of the washer 137006000 the motor control board 134743500 is located inside the cabinet, mounted to the washer base plate/frame. The first step to take is check and clean all the wiring connections at both boards, electrical contact cleaner will be a good source for cleaning any connections or pins on the boards or in the harness. If all checks are OK and clean, and the problem persists, then replace the "main" control board.

Thank you for the info.  I also found this on a Google search but it did not solve my problem.  Seeing as how I could not get the error cleared and into diagnostic mode, I went ahead and ordered the main control board.  I replaced the board yesterday and tried to get into diagnostic mode for further troubleshooting.  I was still unable to get into diagnostic mode so I just went ahead and put the washer back in service.  It is working as it should now.
