GE Fridge GSL25JFPH BS Ice\water dispenser not working

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

I have a GE refrigerator, model GSL25JFPH BS.   Two days ago the ice machine quit dispensing (still making ice though), and the water would only come out in intermittently.  While dispensing water, the display lights on the front of the dispenser would dim until going out, then the water would stop coming altogether.  After stopping water flow the lights would slowly come back on.  I at first thought it might be the solenoids, but how often would two solenoids go bad and what would they have to do with the display lights.

Second thought would be a bad power supply but not sure what to check.

Thank you for any and all recommendations.

First thing to check is the wiring that feeds into the freezer door hinge up from the bottom... You may have to cut away the black woven plastic sleeve around the wires-- it is a common spot for the wiring to begin breaking... It is not uncommon to have broken wires inside of an unbroken insulator jacket. I would tell you to test the door switch too, but that would not affect the display lights, although it can interrupt dispenser function.  :argh:

Bad dispenser board loading down the DC side of the main board?  When the lights go out do the fans turn off?

Thanks for the replies.  I will check that Hiroshi.  Went out of town a few days right after I posted the question and come back to the rear control board clicking over and over again about every second.  That points me to a bad control board, does this seem correct?  Or is something else causing the control board to do this?

No fan at all now, but when I push the dispenser switch the clicking stops until the power slowly builds back up to relight the display lights

Thank You

Eric

Yes, replace that main board, sounds like it will have a couple bloated capacitors on it...Part number: WR55X10942

Replaced the board and everything back to normal.  Thanks everyone for all the help!
