Kitchen aid KSRG25 Stainless Side by Side Ice Maker will not make ice.  I have read lots of stuff online and when I open the door the LED light blinks twice and stops.  If I close the flap on the opposite side of the LED light it still blinks and does not stay lit, nor does it go off. Any further help trying to figure out what's going on would be appreciated.

Possible defective ice maker optics.

+1  That definitely is the most likely problem, and the part is expensive(a total rip off). From my understanding, the tech papers say to replace both the optics and icemaker at the same time because the optics board can take out the icemaker and visa versa. In my experience I've only had to do this maybe....... 20% of the time, or a little less. But one time I had to replace the dual water valve, optics and icemaker at the same time........yeah......really fun job, and really fun trying to explain to a customer why all three needed to be replaced......and I did it at close to cost....I think my profit margine was around $50 total....then you subtract at least two trips, gas, wear and tear on the truck, time, etc.......I lost money big time.......but I kept a customer(I think)......hey, come to think of it......she hasn't called me back.....and that was about three years ago....wow....hey, sometimes it doesn't matter what you do and how fair you are.....you can't win all the time....especially in the appliance repair field......but you gotta remember.....sometimes it's mission impossible.......and sometimes you end up just being a parts changer........it's a rough world there........LOL
