Just bought old 80 series ge dryer had to replace the belt. Also changed it to a 3 prong outlet. problem no it seems to be getting to hot.when i take clothes out there like fire coals. Im worried it may catch a fire. the friend who did the work on it, had never changed out the belt or worked on one. took 3 days to get it back together. i do know he had all wires disconnected. Will the dryer still work if he got some of the wires wired back wrong? Another thing on the cord he was not the one to install the new cord. Could this cord cause it to get very hot. Should I stop using it till i find out the problem. Lookig forward to your help. Thank You!!

Run the unit on air dry or no heat and see if it still heats. If it does most likely you have a grounded heating element. You need to post the model number so we know what dryer you have and can offer model specific help.
