Hi there,

in my new house I found a nice fan assisted Electrolux oven. This is a 3kW machine, it heats up in minutes, it's just fantastic.

However I found it 'dead' a couple of times. It happens after I make some pizza, using the highest settings. And it happens after the over has been switched off: I hear a 'click' in the oven and everything goes off, including the bulb and the cooling fan. The first time I thought the timer had somehow kicked in as after tinkering with it it came back to life. Yesterday I checked the timer thoroughly and nothing, the oven was dead. I have a RED light on the function knob - telling me the oven is getting power and it's operating OK - but lamp bulb and everything else is just not working. I cycle powered it to no avail.

I'm suspecting some kind of overheating switch - it would make sense to switch everything off for safety. In fact yesterday I opened the oven and 1 minute later it came back to life.

Does anybody have a schematic, is there any overheating sensors inside? Any advice?

Thanks!

Tony

It sounds to me like you high limit thermostat if switching off power to the unit. You need to confirm that model number. Can't pull it up and it does not exist according to Electrolux.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, had keypad turned off, a zero missing. Model number is E0B53000X

Inspect the cabinet it is mounted in for air-flow, there should be vent holes in the bottom and a place for the heated air to escape after it passes the body of the oven...  Improper installation can certainly contribute to this problem... The model number should be on the frame somewhere, that number is incorrect.  http://www.repairclinic.com/Layer/Help-Me-Find-My-Model-Number. If this was purchased in the USA the model number will be different- Canadian and European numbers don't work in searches 'round here.

I am from the UK, that's probably why the number does not show up on your search (thanks anyway!)

There is no vent hole at the bottom but I doubt the whole furniture is so sealed to prevent air from being sucked in - the fan on top seems to blow a decent amount of air. I'll check anyway. Do you know where the air is being sucked in?

Heated air is blown out from the front of the unit, I inspected the fan and the cavity and it seems ok.

It'd be nice to know where the temperature sensor is, so I can focus my attention to that area.

This is not a massive issue anyway, the oven seems to shut down after I've switched it off, maybe next time I'll leave it open a minute before switching it off - or I'll leave the internal fan on for a while so heat does not build up on top of the oven.

Thanks for your time in the meantime.
