I have a Maytag Bravos 580 MVSB300wq2 serial number c12770323.  The water would not drain and the pump would not stop running.  I performed the following things 1. I did the diagnostic test and recieved the F32 and F72 errors.  I pulled the tub out (without the special puller) and the shaft was corroded.  I cleaned the shaft and tub bearing and reinstalled.  I ran the machine in diagnostic and got through it with "done."  2.  I ran a test load.  It did the same thing - not pumping water out fully and pump runs and runs LD code.  3.  I tipped it up and pulled both pumps and checked for debris or blockage.  Both pumps look clean and no blockage.  Where in the world do I go from here?  Is the Askoll  W10281682 pump going bad?  How can I tell?  Thanks for any and all help.  Sincerely, Matt

I don't have a lot of experience with these pieces of crap but I have worked on some. The LD error comes up if it takes too long to drain. The pump may look good but take if off and rotate the impeller. It may be bad. Also, take the hose off and blow through just to make sure you don't have a good size lint ball or something else restricting the water flow. That's the first two things I do when I run into one of these and it has a similar problem.

Thanks BrewHobby,  I did try both of those things.  Impeller rotates fine and black hoses are 100% clear.  The impeller is funny in that it can swivel as well as rotate but I thought that was probably normal??  Could there be something blocking the intake from the top (under the tub) I didn't take the actual cover off but I did stick my finger under and it seemed clear.

Yeah, there could be a sock or something blocking from the inner tub or the hose coming down from there. Take another good look at the pump impeller. They do break and just freewheel. It may be hard to tell, but take a good look at it.

This washer is about 5 years old, that is about the average life span of that style of pump, the impeller shouldn't swivel.

A worn out impeller will let the impeller swivel, as you say, and also they will usually be pretty noisy at that stage.

Most likely the impeller also turns almost a half way around back and forth without turning the actual rotor in the pump motor, the impeller should start turning the rotor shaft immediately when turned in either direction.  The pump rotor is a round magnet and you should be able to turn it a let ways and it will snap around the rest of the way, (every 180 degree turn should do this).

If you are sure there are no clogs in the hoses and you have power to the pump, (you hear it running), then a new pump should take care of your problem.

Yeah, continuous magnet motors should feel "lumpy," but the impeller should spin on a flat plane

Thank you for your help.  I just ordered the pump after your expert advice on the life of the pump.  May the beer gods shower you with the finest hops!  Sincerely,
