So I picked up an LG refrigerator that does not chill. The compressor works. It appears that a previous tech or someone repaced the drier and brazed on shrader valves. They also appear to have written 4oz freon on the back. I hooked up the blue line to the low pressure schrader and turn on compressor. Guage goes to -25. When I attempt to fasten redl ine to its schrader the fitting (brazed on the drier) immediately cuases freon to spew out in a brownish froth ( also, I could not get hose line fitting to seal even when fully tightened. What to do?
I have studied and looked at a boat load of videos and now Im hesitant to proceed. Why is brownish crap coming out. Wy wont fitting seal without spewing?

It drops to -25 psi on low side??? Sounds like low on refrigerant or restriction in high side possibly.  With the brown fluid and pressure could b a burn out compressor.

Sometimes burnout compressor plug up cap tubes, filter driers, metering devices ect.  And can cause high pressure from restriction.  Knowing it's had sealed system work done and brown stuff oozing out . I'd say it don't look good. But post some pics

Sometimes you just have to shoot some freon in and see what happens. This is one of those times.

I don't know if you may have quoted me at some time in the near past or distant future.........

...but, yeah, that's definitely a possibility............but I'll go on record saying there's 98.2% chance that's not the problem.........
