Our under counter kitchenaid dishwasher door fell down and now can't be lifted more than 1/4 way up. I believe the spring must have gone on it but what would prevent it from being lifted? Could the spring be the culprit or the hinge damaged? Thanks.

Remove the toe kick panel (the very bottom panel that hides the working parts) and see if the door lifts up with no resistance... since it is under the door, the door panel may have "popped" behind the toe kick and is being obstructed... The toe kick will have two fasteners at the far left and right

Thanks. Tried that and it still wont lift. I can see the spring is broken on the left side. Any other suggestions or is it time to pull it out? If so, any tips on removing the top screws that are in granite?

Typical installs with stone counters mount on sides not through stone. Good luck, ugh

You will need to pull it to replace spring and/or hinge.

Wow.....in my part of town/country it's always holes drilled under the counter top(two holes) and then plastic inserted and then the screws. If done right it's great......if not it sucks. I don't really do installs, but I see plenty of what goes on.....and then I have to try and modify/fix whatever happens down the road.......just like having to modify any engineering/design defect on a unit. As techs......that's something we all have to deal with, sometimes on a daily basis. It sucks, but it's money......and someone has to do it. We all learn how to modify......

Steel tubs usually have holes in the side for mounting. For others there are brackets like this:
