Turn the cold control to "off."

Remove the ADC wiring ( note the locations ).

.Part number: WR55X21623

Part number: WR55X21623

Make a jumper wire and insert it into the wires that connected to the ADC at points L1 and DF.

Turn the cold control back to "on."

When you turn the cold control "on," the heater should be energized... wait at least 5 minutes and if the heater isn't obviously HOT, then turn your attention to the defrost thermostat.. Part number: WR50X10073

Part number: WR50X10073

If you look at the part closely, you will see they have poured blue epoxy into a metal "cup" that the wires are fed into... the epoxy should be 100% flush with the rim of the "cup."  If it is uneven AT ALL, replace the thermostat even if it is testing OK by meter...!

Cool thanks, hiroshi thought it would be a easier way like clapping you hand twice put the light switch and spin once without taking off the cover and what not. Thank you very much.

There may be an official way to do it, but my way will get you to the promised land with 100% exactitude, because if the heater and thermostat work perfectly when you jumper past the ADC, you know to replace the ADC!

It was the method for diagnosing the Maytag "Wide by Side," which had the most fallible ADC ever...

Force defrost manually by pressing the light switch 3 times within 5 seconds (5 second timer starts with first press). Defrost should start within 5 seconds of last light switch press.

If you cannot force defrost manually by pressing the light switch 3 times within 5 seconds, unplug the refrigerator for at least 30 seconds and plug it back in.
