Defrost drain RS27FDBTNSR. SAMSUNG

Recommended Posts

Posted

Samsung RS27FDBTNSR made for Sears kenmore pro. Also known as Sears 401.40483800

ice buildup in freezer and water on fridge shelves. 48 inch side by side. Counter depth recessed fridge

I think it's a clogged defrost drain. Not sure if location of drain is inside fridge or I need to pull fridge out to get to back.

Can anyone tell me where this drain is?

thanks.

Likely both.

The top of drain is in evaporator compartment(s) and there is(are) a drain tube(s) in the lower back machine section where compressor is located.

Whoa... sorry built in unit. Machine components on top.

Your unit has an evaporator in both compartments freezer and fresh food.

So there are two drains. Sound like fresh food side is suspect.

Type sears model number into searspartsdirect.com and review parts diagram to locate drain.

Your samsung model number isn't valid as typed.

I did as you suggested but the diagram is a bit confusing. The evap components seem to be boxed off and I'm not sure what that means.

Hello - any luck with this? I’m having the exact same issue.

water (I think condensation buildup) comes from inside top of fridge and builds up on shelves and buttom drawer and leaks out on hardwood floor…

just started :(

please help

did you find out if you were able to get at the freezer evaporator drain tube where it comes out into the bottom back of the inside of the freezer section ??   this fridge is a built in and with the mechanical room up top I am wondering if the access to replace the freezer drain has to be done through the inside of the freezer section only.   I am wondering if there is an access plate to inspect the freezer drain tube at the bottom back of the fridge when its pulled out ??

Hey ed darren412 here.   the model I was looking at was a sears kenmore 401.40483800  Not sure if you were already aware but just as a point of information For you if you were still kind of wondering anything with this Sears Kenmore built in with its mechanical room up above the fridge.. I know this is an old post but here it is in case its helpful to you. The FZ evaporator and  drain pan are located in the very top of the freezer section behind the duct work to the right of the IM.  The drip pan drain line runs down then into a hole in the back wall into the back wall insulation and then down through the back wall down and through the bottom  of the refrigerator cabinet into the drip pan underneath the fridge.  No real access to that drain line except from the top of the FZ section.  Its a bitch but you can get at the Evaporator drip pan and where the first 4" of the drain line is coming out of the bottom of the evaporator drip pan above but thats as far as you can get.  It was still frozen down into the drain line about 3" down into the insulation. I had one of those  Ice Surrender Frozen drain kits to clear the rest of the frozen drain that went down into the insulation.  Good thing I had one.  Without it I would have been there way too much longer than needed trying to pour hot water in there and waiting for it to thaw out. I also did this with out removing the evaporator cover. There was enough room through two good size holes on the sides of the evaporator cover. just enough to do what I needed in a reasonable amount of time.  There was to much work with wires and foam insulation and who knows what else to try and attemp to take the evaporatort cover off for better access to the drip pan. I tried taking the evaporator cover off but realized the evaporator and everything else with the cover was all coming out together and wouldnt come off easy.  I was afraid the way it was not coming off easy that it may cause a problem getting it all back together and  properly sealing correctly around the evaporator so I just left it alone. It was bad enough getting all the rest of the FZ shelving and IM and Auger assy out of the way along with a bunch of other plastic parts and  other stuff. I was worried I couldnt remember how to put it all back together . It was so much stuff.  I just defrosted the frozen drain and drip pan and got out of there. I couldnt spend anymore time there.  I hope the drain line heater is working and it was just clogged and frozen.  :(  I couldnt find any tech sheet information in the mechanical room up top to see if I could test the heater. and I didnt have enough room to put an old school heat transfer wire from the defrost heater to the drain hole since I didnt want to mess with the evaporator cover.
