Needing a specific tool for Whirlpool washer repair

Recommended Posts

This is the older (good) style whirlpool washer. Made from roughly 1986 to 2011 or so. I'm replacing the centerpost bearing kit P/N: 285203 and I need the tool to do so.  Does anyone have a part number for the tool or a link to one online?

i've alrady taken the spanner nut out and removed the inner tub. These bearings and seal go down the centerpost shaft that is permanently connected to the base of the machine. The plastic outer tub slides down over it.

My bad, easier to just order part number 280184.

That part is called the "tri-pod." Where exactly is the leak coming from? If the tripod is corroded enough to allow leakage, you will need a tub-donut seal as well, it is what acts as the seal between the outer washtub and tri-pod.

That original part and tool you were referring to... those don't go to a direct-drive... What is the model number of this washer?

The tool repairclinic pictures for the  285203 is an Amana tub bearing removal tool...

I will replace the tub seal also because I will have it out and available to change. It is super cheap, but it's not what is leaking. You can see water down inside the centerpost shaft when transmission and basket drive have been completely removed, shouldn't have any water there.
