GE Dryer DWXR473ET5WW will not stop in Automatic mode

This electric GE Dryer will not stop in either the Perm pres or Cotton Automatic mode.  The clothes dry in the normal amount of time, and will overdry if the dryer is left on.  The dryer also runs fine in manual timed mode and will shut off in that mode.

Both coils have normal 19.2 resistance.  I have replaced the Drum outlet thermostat which did not solve the problem. The Control inlet thermostat has a normal 9K resistance reading on the bias heater terminals.

Could this be the 4500 ohm resistor? Does this circuit basically act to slow down the timer?

Or do I just need to replace the timer?

Thanks!

I would replace the p/n we4m186 ,resister, located in the control panel, do not have a wire diagram in front of me...check your diagram for it's location in the circuit.....

After I posted this, I checked the resistance on that resistor.  It was reading a bit low at 4350 ohms, but I think that should be within range.  Knowing that, would you still replace it, or try something else?

Sorry, just read that u did check both parts of element

Thanks for the prod sh2sh2...that made me go back and re-check the elements.  I had poor troubleshooting skills the first time around, as I left the wires attached to the terminal elements...which will back feed through a good single coil (via the resistor) and show conductance ...yep the inner coil was INOP...problem solved!
